A 60s hotel with influences from Dallas & Palm Springs
We created an “Ellery identity” based on movies, TV series, and personalities from various decades, both modern and from the 60s, sleek and relaxed. We also dared to use a mix of materials and textures to create a lived-in and bohemian feel rather than a hundred percent 60s concept. What makes the design stand out is that we dared to use many different patterns, textures, and materials with many surprises that create life and soul.
The restaurant Palmer’s and the Lobby on the first floor are more elegant, 60s, and graphic while the atmosphere in Coco Beach Club on the ground floor is more of a relaxed and bohemian Californian experience where Malibu meets Palm Springs.
In Palmer’s and the Lobby, we consciously used a mix of wood stains and various types of marble to make the place feel vibrant and as if it could have been there since the building was constructed in the 60s. The color scheme for Palmer’s is a mix of blue, pink, red, ochre, black, and cream patterns.
Coco Beach Club is a tribute to rattan, straw, and other natural materials. This stands in contrast to soft velvet upholstery, brass, and crystal chandeliers. Coco Beach Club is a different experience compared to Palmer’s but to give a sense of cohesion for the whole hotel, the 60s can still be felt, for example in the patterns on the tiles in the pool area. The color palette for Coco Beach Club is soft with shades of pink, green, light blue, and yellow.
We believe that the rooms are the perfect blend of the concepts in Ellery’s public spaces. We can’t decide if it’s more of a Dallas vs 60’s Palm Springs or a Malibu beach house, and with that said, that’s exactly how we want it to be!
